What is a Patient Navigator?
Patient Navigators are available to help provide information and referral services
to community resources in your area. Patient Navigator services are free and confidential.
Community resources the Patient Navigators might be able to help with include such
things as arranging transportation to and from treatment, providing referrals to
physical therapy or nutrition counseling services, helping with the direction toward
appropriate financial assistance programs, and providing class listings. In some
areas, the Patient Navigator can help cancer patients with free wigs, hats, and
turbans as well.
Does where I live affect whether or not I can receive
assistance from a Patient Navigator online?
No. While the Patient Navigator online program is currently focused on the Southwest
region of the U.S., newly diagnosed cancer patients from anywhere in the country
are welcome.
Can I get a copy of our chat session so I don't have
to take notes?
Yes. A transcript of your chat session will be emailed to you upon request at the
end of the session. This can be helpful because Patient Navigators often provide
a wealth of information about resources in your area.
Is our chat conversation confidential and secure?
Yes. Your chat conversation with a Patient Navigator is completely confidential
and secure. The Patient Navigator online program complies with all HIPAA policies
for privacy and security of data.
